The reservoir commenced in 1958 and went into operation in 1969. The total storage capacity is 3.345 billion m³. The design irrigation area is 2.05 million mu. The total amount of water supply is 1.3 billion m³. It is a large-scale hydro-junction with the main purpose of irrigation and other functions of flood control, power generation and water supply. It is the largest reservoir in Hainan Province. The main dam of the reservoir is the first rolled homogeneous high earth dam with the maximum dam height of 80.1m. |
